Perhaps Elizabeth's wish to stay Queen is the only thing stronger than Elizabeth's wish to destroy Britain; at times without the due pressure she gives in, only she can give in on anything, the battle for the pressure is therefore vital.

In her long reign she was an absent total disaster: Britain lost power, the Anglo-Saxon protestant base was shamed and cowed down and also silenced, Britain signed away a lot of its territories and said sorry to exist and only with Brexit part of the damage was undone. And Brexit means Brexit.
