Florida made headlines until a few months ago thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis who for a year avoided all kinds of restrictions and limitations and even fined those who asked employees or users for a mask or a certificate of vaccination.
Very few deaths
Until the State of Florida showed a wave of infections and deaths, Covid remained on the news, but since it became the US state with fewer deaths and infections in percentage of the population, silence has fallen. As for Sweden, moreover, which for months has practically no more Covid deaths despite never having imposed masks and Lockdowns.
Here we see the Covid dead in Florida, 21 million inhabitants. There are now less than ten a day (yesterday only seven to be precise) and the infections are at 1,600 a day.
Given that in the USA at the moment the infections and deaths are more or less the same as in Europe (there are fewer infections, similar deaths), having only 7 Covid deaths makes Florida now the US state with fewer Covid problems19.
Is this merit of the vaccines? No
If there were a TV virologist here he would probably say that the success is explained by the fact that there are eventually the vaccinated in Florida as well. And he would be wrong because in Florida the percentage of vaccinated with two doses is only 60%, while in Italy or France or Spain it is 80% or more.
This low percentage of vaccination is also due to the fact that the authorities not only do not impose it, but speak critically about it. The "Surgeon General" ("the head of health") of Florida, stood out for harshly criticizing the GreenPass: in a video, he also says that "vaccines are not the only solution" and other treatments are encouraged such as hydroxychloroquine.
Winning strategy
Governor Ron DeSantis, thanks to this success in defying the Lockdown, is now the likely presidential candidate in case Donald Trump can't show up again and even if Trump does, polls would point him as a fearsome competitor to Trump. De Santis - it is true - risked going against the tide, but in his press conferences he always said that the experts and scientists he consulted indicated that letting the virus circulate, protecting the fragile, was the correct strategy. Because in this way the great majority of the population self-immunized naturally, as has always been done for all viruses, where those who are not at risk if they take it they immunize themselves and help block the spread of the virus.
